USPA NEWS - The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain "is worrying," in the opinion of the President of the Spanish Government. Pedro Sanchez appeared at a televised press conference after the first meeting of the Government after the summer holidays, to take stock of the situation created by the increase in infections by Coronavirus, and sent an optimistic message when remembering that the curve of infections bent before summer in more adverse circumstances.
Sanchez defended the actions of the regional governments, to whom the Ministry of Health gave the management of the outbreaks and to whom it offered more means to fight the pandemic, appealing to the unity of the administrations, social agents and political parties. The Spanish Prime Minister issued an alert message "because the evolution is worrying, especially in some areas," but also of serenity "because we are far from the situation in March and there should not be a fear that paralyzes us and prevents us from acting."
The President of the Government recognized the effort being made by the regions, which are the ones that have the capacity to manage the health crisis in each of their territories, and offered to reinforce their work with more material, digital and legal means to provide a more effective and intense response that, "with the responsibility of each one and with the unity of all," allows to bend the current ascending curve of contagions, as it was done before the summer.
In order to improve the capacity to track cases, the president announced, 2,000 soldiers trained in these techniques will be made available to all regions. There is also the possibility of digital detection thanks to the RADAR COVID application that, through the information obtained in contact tracing, allows to know the level of contagion risk and notify those interested. Seven regions have already completed the technical process and have this system fully operational. "We urge all other communities to join the digital tracking system," said Sanchez, who also encouraged citizens to download the application on their mobile phones.
Another new measure proposed by the Government is that the regions can request the declaration of a State of alarm in all or part of their territory. The president also announced that requests based on "well-founded and clear health reasons" will have, for their mandatory approval in Congress, the parliamentary support of the groups that support the Government.
The president warned that the political course that begins will be developed under the sign of the health, economic and social emergency, and appealed to the unity of the administrations, with the social agents and among the political forces with parliamentary representation as an "essential" way. to face it. In this context, Sanchez announced that starting next week he will invite the leaders of all political parties with parliamentary representation to a meeting with three objectives: to banish the partisan fight from the fight against the pandemic, to reinforce the functioning of the institutions and promote recovery by injecting into Spanish economy the resources agreed by Europe. "That requires new budgets, some Country Budgets, and we want to approve them with the greatest possible parliamentary support," he said.
And a few days before the school year begins, Sanchez stressed that the educational centers will be "safe" and that the only roadmap of the Spanish Government and regional authorities, which has been working on since June, is that "the return to school" starts normally.
