Low crime in Spain

3.7% in the first quarter

USPA NEWS - Crime fell by 3.7% over the first three months of last year. Follow the general downward trend of recent years and stood at 44.3 crimes and offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, one of the lowest rates in the European Union.
The Spanish Interior Ministry has presented the balance of criminality for the first quarter of 2015. From January to March 2015 were recorded in Spain a total of 496 133 crimes and offenses, which is 3.7% less compared to same period of 2014, which had amounted to 514 930. The total number of criminal offenses recorded during the first three months of the year leads to the crime rate is 44.3 crimes and offenses per 1,000 inhabitants and makes Spain one of the safest countries in Europe.
The descent of all crimes and offenses recorded by Spanish Security Corps during the first quarter of 2015 shows a continuation of the downward trend in recent years, keeping to Spain as an international leader in the fight against crime. The decline in crime rates is widespread, although this decrease is greater with regard to voluntary manslaughter and accomplished murders (-25.0%), robberies in homes (-15.9%), the robbery with violence and intimidation (-15.5%), violent crime in general (-14%) and robberies (-12.2%). Highlights, from a territorial distribution of crime that among the regions where there has been a further decrease in crime are La Rioja, Asturias and Cantabria.
