USPA NEWS - 8th President of AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK GROUP. It was during the 50th Annual Meeting in ABIDJAN (COTE D'IVOIRE). The election process was conducted by voting among the Bank's Board Governors whose voting powers are weighed.
Curently, serving as NIGERIA's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, he succeded Donald KABERUKA (RWANDA) whose second term as President Bank ends on August 31, 2015 and to whom he paid tribute in a press conference. Akinwumi ADESINA, 55, will assume office on september 1, 2015.

He was elected on May 28, 2015 at ABIDJAN with 58,10%. Second was Chad Kordjé BEDOUMRA with 30%. Third was Cape Verde Cristina DUARTE with 10%.

The President is elected for a fixed term of five years, renewable once only.

Yes, if takes leave of absence without pay or resigns from the Bank's employment and satisfy the eligibility criteria outlined in the Agreement in the Agreement establishing the Bank (competence, nationality and conditions of candidature)
