USPA NEWS - Within 1 month of presidential election, Burkina Faso has just experienced a coup, for the kidnapping of President Blaise Compaore& his PM Zida by soldiers of elite corps of the army. General Diendéré was placed on Thursday to head the National Council of demcracy, new power set up by the military.

The French President Hollande, of the Republic strongly condemns the coup which took place in Burkina Faso. It calls for the immediate release of all those arrested, the refitting of the transitional authorities and the resumption of the electoral process. Elysee. “France is concerned about the developments in Burkina Faso today. It strongly condemns any use of force and calls for the immediate release of all detainees. Laurent Fabius, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs said. The Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon on Thursday urged the Burkinabe military "exercise restraint and to respect the human rights and security" of the population.

SECRETARY GENERAL PASCAL TERRASSE OF THE FRANCOPHONE PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY CONDEMN THE COUP The Parliamentary Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, Pascal Terrasse (MP, France) strongly condemns the coup attempt by elements of the Presidential Security Regiment (RSP) underway in Burkina Faso.   "As actors in national politics are actively preparing for the presidential and legislative elections of October 11, 2015 and that people are preparing to take notice of the different political programs of parties and candidates, it is unacceptable that the military forces interfere in the political life of a country with bated Head of State and Prime Minister hostage "Pascal Terrasse said. "The APF wishes to reiterate that the political transition engaged since November 2014 has to go to term and the election timetable must be scrupulously respected in the best interests of Burkina Faso" added Pascal Terrasse. The APF and its Parliamentary Secretary General reaffirmed their commitment to a democratic transition process, inclusive and open to all parts of the Burkinabe society, essential criterion of appeasement of political life in this country. They demand the immediate and unconditional release of the President and the Prime Minister.----------------------------------------------------------------------- Pascal Terrasse reiterates its support for the transitional government recognised by the international community and calls on the entire international community to mobilise to sustain democracy.-------------------------------------------------------------------- Burkina Faso is currently under observation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie.
