USPA NEWS - The President of the Republic met today a Defence Council to take stock of operations to apprehend those responsible for the attacks of 13 November in Paris and their accomplices. The Board reviewed all measures to strengthen the protection of our citizens on our territory.

The President of the Republic met today a Defence Council to take stock of operations to apprehend those responsible for the attacks of 13 November in Paris and their accomplices.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Board reviewed all measures to strengthen the protection of our citizens on our territory.--------------------------------------- He referred to the terms of the diplomatic handling the situation in Syria, in particular the visits of the President of the Republic in Washington and Moscow, as well as UN Security Council resolution of the proposal.---------------------------------- The President of the French Republic has given the necessary instructions to the intensification of military operations in the fight against Daesh in Syria and Iraq. Official Elysee Statement------------------------------------------------------------------------- French President, François Hollande held a limited Defence Council November 19 at 5pm to "take stock of the internal and external situation," according to the president's entourage.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This council meeting was held after the announcement of the death of the alleged leader of the attacks of Paris, the Belgian Abdelhamid Abaaoud killed Wednesday in a successful assault by the RAID and BRI. RAID means “Research, Assistance, Intervention, Deterrence“, commonly abbreviated RAID in French (French: Recherche, Assistance, Intervention, Dissuasion) is the name of an elite tactical unit of the French National Police. RAID is France's primary national counter-terrorism unit, the police equivalent of the National Gendarmerie's National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), with exclusive jurisdiction on the 21 closest districts of Paris. BRI means Brigade of Search & Intervention (Investigative Unit and intervention of the Judicial French Police) against Saint-Denis apartment, and after the first telephone contact between heads of Staff of the French and Russian armies to discuss "coordination" of military operations in Syria. Since 2009, RAID is included within the French Police Intervention Force, alongside with GIPN and the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of Paris.
