USPA NEWS - The Kings of Spain chaired the Military Easter, an event held every year on January 6 and ends Christmas in Spain. In his speech, King said that "anywhere who attack our rights and freedoms should find a courageous and decisive response of unity and firmness in defending our model of coexistence."

King also wanted to point out the high readiness of the Spanish armed forces in its cooperation with NATO in the different exercises carried out. Finally, he addressed the families, saying: "I dedicate an affectionate memory of all men and women, civilian and military, at this time, away from their families and homes, defend the interests of Spain beyond our borders. With their work they are giving an extraordinary example of patriotism, solidarity and commitment to peace and security of people who need it."
The celebration of the Military Easter is deeply rooted in the Spanish military life. It dates back to the reign of Carlos III, when, on January 6, 1782, Menorca's Mahon recovered in the Balearic Islands, which was held by the English. As an expression of joy, Carlos III ordered the Viceroys, captains general, governors and military commanders, in the holiday of the Epiphany, the garrisons gather together in his name and to notify chiefs and officers congratulated hosts.
