FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY, THE US, UK, UE MEETING IN TUNIS ABOUT GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY IN LIBYA-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The foreign ministers of Germany, the United States, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy welcomed the statement of the members of the Political Dialogue Libya, met in Tunis on 10 and 11 March 2016. Germany, the United States, France, Italy, the UK and the European Union express full support to the Government of National Unity as that it was proposed by the Presidential Council and recognize the declaration of February 23, signed by the majority of members of the House of Representatives, in which they announced their support to the Government of National Unity."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE LYBIAN PEOPLE DESERVE PEACE AND STABILITY-------------------------------------------------------------------------- They intend to work closely with the Government of National Unity, the only legitimate government in Libya. They will continue to provide full support to the efforts of UNSMIL in Libya and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and will be held alongside the Government of National Unity.-------------------------------------------------- The Libyan Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity must intensify their efforts to assume full authority to meet the expectations of the Libyan people, which is exhausted by the crisis. The Libyan people deserve peace and stability. The Libyan policy dialogue called the Presidential Council to visit Tripoli and urged all public institutions, including financial institutions, to facilitate an immediate and peaceful transfer of power. This transfer must be implemented as soon as possible. The Government of National Unity should quickly assume its proper role in ensuring the only oversight of all financial and economic institutions in Tripoli, which should serve the interests of all Libyans.--------------------------------------- As the political dialogue makes clear, the Libyan political agreement is the only legitimate framework for ending the political crisis in Libya and military conflict. The institutional framework provided by the Libyan political agreement should be rapidly implemented, including through the full establishment of the State Council. The Ministers and the High Representative remind individuals in both camps that undermine the political process, the establishment of the Government of National Unity and the implementation of the agreement of Skhirat, expose themselves to sanctions. Political unity and an inclusive and functional government is the only way to end the instability that feeds the growth of terrorism in Libya. The Ministers and the High Representative called on all Libyan parties and the Libyan people to act with a sense of responsibility in this key moment for the future of their country by providing all necessary support to the Government of National Unity and its setting up inTripoli.“ French Foreign Affairs Minister.
