Seeks to normalize relations

USPA NEWS - The regional Government of Catalonia, chaired by Carles Puigdemont, has sent a letter to the acting president of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, officially requesting an interview of the two leaders.
After months of estrangement motivated by the challenge of independence Catalan institutions, the regional Government now seeks to normalize relations with Madrid. Puigdemont and Rajoy have coincided only once since the first was inaugurated president of the regional Government of Catalonia. It was during the tribute to the victims of the Germanwings flight crashed in the Alps one year ago, which was held in Barcelona. On that occasion, the television cameras witnessed the coldness of greetings, as a result of the independence challenge launched by the Catalan institutions. A challenge that continues, although with less intensity than a few months ago.
Now, from the regional Government of Catalonia they have decided to take a step towards the normalization of relations with Madrid. The request for an official meeting between Puigdemont and Rajoy is first, but then ask the Spanish Government to open a channel of dialogue on financing and on the lace of Catalonia in Spain. Puigdemont himself announced in his inaugural speech that will not give any step towards the independence of Catalonia that has not been negotiated with Madrid.
But the Catalan institutions face strong opposition from the Government of Spain and the main opposition parties, the Socialist Party and the centrist Citizens, who refuse to negotiate the breakup of the unity of Spain. President Puigdemont, enemy of the rush and consolidate strong supporter of each advance is achieved, he have another enemy at home: CUP coalition anarchist, advocate for full and immediate break with Spain. The CUP supports the Government of Puigdemont, so the Catalan president walks along the edge of the political knife.
